Georgia Appraiser School, LLC (Alpharetta, GA) - 2008 / Present

 

The Georgia Appraiser School is licensed by the Georgia Real Estate Appraisers Board (GREAB) to provide pre and post license education to appraisers and licensed real estate professionals.  Courses are offered in 15 locations throughout the state of Georgia.

 

School Director

·        Responsible for developing appraiser courses including textbook and presentation materials as well as gaining course approval from state boards and / or federal regulatory agencies.

·         Authored over 20 courses approved for certification and continuing education credit by the Georgia Real Estate Appraisers Board.

·         Lead Instructor for pre and post licensing courses held throughout the state of Georgia as well as other states.

·         Developed statistical market analysis software in use by appraisers nationwide to assist them in analyzing and documenting current market trends.

Martin & Associates provides appraisal services to lenders and individuals in the greater Atlanta, GA metropolitan area.

 

Staff Appraiser

 

·        Performed appraisals on lots, condominiums, single family homes and small businesses.

·         Conducted quality control reviews on intercompany appraisals.

·         Performed research for commercial appraisers.

·         Installed a new computer network and associated software to improve productivity and recordkeeping.

Prior to entering the valuation profession, Mr. Smithmyer held various positions at start up and nationally recognized computer software and hardware companies.  Some of these companies included; Lotus Development, Microrim, Berkeley Software Design, Wind River, Computone and Mictotrain.

 

Positions held included Director of Training to Vice President of International Sales and Marketing.

 

Geotechnical / Civil Engineering - 1996 / 1982

 

After graduating, Mr. Smithmyer served as Project Engineer in charge of geotechnical construction quality control.  These worldwide projects included Spaceship Earth Disney World, Union Carbide World Headquarters, King Khalid Military City and Metro Atlanta Rapid Transit System (MARTA).

 

In addition he conducted environmental studies and land use planning studies in Pennsylvania, West Virginia, Tennessee and Georgia.
